Change to the minimum age for national security clearances
The minimum age requirement for obtaining a Top Secret or Top Secret Special national security clearance has changed from 20 years to 18 years. This change was made to ensure the minimum age requirement for a national security clearance is consistent across clearance levels. It is effective immediately.
National security clearance eligibility self-check tool
We have launched a self-check security clearance eligibility tool to assess whether you might be eligible to apply for a national security clearance. The tool is designed to provide guidance and should not be used as a source for a definitive answer. After using the tool, it is still up to the individual to apply for the role or not, and for the recruiter to proceed with the application. Note: the response generated from the tool is indicative only and does not form any part of the actual security clearance process.
